The AlliED Interface

AlliED can be assigned to .tie file types so that double clicking on an .tie file will open the editor with the selected file loaded.

AlliED's interface is an evolution of XvtED's interface, so I've tried to make it both familiar and more versatile. While you are getting used to the new interface there are 2 keys that may come in handy:

F9: "Classic" Editor view

Classic Editor view

F10: "Classic" Map view

Classic Map view

The mission editing interface basically consists of the Map, where you can view and edit Flight Group placement and Waypoints, the Main Pages on the left hand side which display the lists of FGs, Messages and Teams, and several floating toolboxes.

The Datapad provides the editing interface for each FG, Message, or Team Goal, depending on the current Main Page selected. The Order/Region selector provides a list of the Current FG's orders in the current Region, as well as the means to choose the current Region and current order. The WP window provides the display and manual editing of WP placements, as well as enabling/disabling WPs, and the Text sections window provides editing of Mission Description, Commander Briefing, Debriefing, Hints and Notes.

The Current FG can be chosen in several ways:

  • from the drop box at the top of the Map, which is always available
  • by selecting it in the FG list of the Main Pages
  • by clicking on it in the Map.

Other functions available from the main menu:
Hyperbuoy Wizard Use this to connect regions of space via hyperbuoys.
Preferences There are many preferences to customize the functions of the editor.  Most may be left as defaults, however the Directory preferences must be set correctly in order for some features to work properly.
Load by .lst This will bring up a window to allow you to select a mission by its description in the .lst file, rather than its file name.
